(anytime within, and likely longer)
Your Invitation…
Well beautiful souls, it’s happening again. And it’s coming together under some special circumstances.
We hereby welcome you to an extended stay this winter at our beautiful, buzzing nest in Bali — Anima’s new home. Our base for future operations, with some serious shenanigans underway.*
Gift yourself a chance to recharge, explore the incredible Island of Bali, feel her energy, and meet her people. Be affected.
Come drop in with a crew of brilliant, heart-centered Lovers and values-based Builders, each of you chosen for your unique gifts. The kind of people you’d trust to shape a fresh perspective, or provoke a breakthrough.
See the DETAILS PAGE for timing, suites, dues, etc.
*To which you are also invited…dive into the ‘CAMPUS’ page. 😉

Home / Two stunning villas on an ancient river gorge
Dwa Chandra is located just outside of Ubud, in an area called Pejeng, which was the capital of the ancient Bedulu Kingdom (914-1358). We are surrounded by many of the same stone carvings, temples, and traditions that have lasted since then — 1000 years ago!
Our two beautiful villas are the most luxurious retreat venue in Ubud. They were built by famous local Balinese architect Oka (he just did Snoop Dogg’s house) and are situated above a river gorge with natural caves and ancient carvings. Together, the villas have have nine bedroom suites and up to 14 separate beds. We got room!

Experience / Relax and unwind at your own pace
When you start with the finest ingredients, it’s really hard to mess things up. In other words, the combination of you beautiful people and this beautiful island is a pretty solid groundwork for whatever happens next.
This is a take-it-at-your-own-pace kind of adventure. There is almost no structure set in advance — most of the adventure is to get to know Bali, yourself in Bali, and the delightful people in your midst. You’ll get to choose, on a whim, from a cornucopia of local activities, from waterfalls to wood crafts, Balinese cooking to biking around rice fields. Or spend a lazy few days just sitting by the pool with a book, margarita in hand.
At some point, we’ll have a special evening together devoted to getting to know one another at a deeper level — our humanity, our many gifts, and a peek behind the curtain. You’ll share an area of life that’s important to you now, where the collective may be able to help push you toward your goal. Everyone invited is a generous soul and a great listener with a wide aperture on life. As a collective, we’ll call in some synchronicities.
Are we getting work done? We sure are. Many of us are managing some work while here. You set your own hours, set your own boundaries, and jump in where you want! Ask for what you need.
Are we playing? Yes, of course. We’ll have calendar of opportunities — add your dinner plans, or suggest a waterfall hike, and see who wants to come along.

Hospitality / Our team has a super family vibe
Best yet, you’ll love being cared for by the Dwa Chandra team!
Prepare to unwind under the care of our two gracious hostesses, Ewik and Egy, who can coordinate everything from island boat tours to your acupuncture.
Dine on delicious cuisine prepared by our chef Edi or request a late-night cocktail from his younger brother, butler Artha. Raka will coordinate your transportation needs and Rani is on call for your first (or second) mid-day massage. Return to your suite to find a freshly- made bed and the the lingering scent of incense placed by our senior housekeeper, Suma. Fun fact: Most of our team are neighbors!

About Lovers & Builders
Part vacation,
part co-living,
part therapy,
part incubator...
We’re what happens when you mix busy, open-minded builders with long stays at sexy places...and a permission slip to be human.
Our Renaissance family includes many whose work transcends categories: podcast gurus, disaster response heroes entrepreneurs, civil servants, authors, artists, cultural activists,…state actors, and people who perform acts against state. We’re moms and dads, sons and daughters, East and West Coasters, nomads and nesters. We all know the tension between wanting to save the world and wanting to savor it. We’ve got mindfulness and healthy governance in mind and our political views are important, but not easily labeled.
There’s a calm in finding others like ourselves.
We’ve hosted 20 weeks of Lovers & Builders gatherings in two years, 14 weeks in Ibiza and 6 weeks in Bali. But the majority of the magic is what happens after we return from paradise: being part of an international chosen family that can talk about anything and collaborates on everything from professional gigs to match-making, crowdfunding properties to personal growth…to building a (small but mighty) Burning Man empire.
And just like Burning Man, Lovers & Builders runs on participation! We are not a start-up or a membership community, and no one gets paid for organizing. We don’t have a business model because we are not a business. This is just our way of creating a family.

I love you! And can’t wait to see many of you soon. xx Anima

FAQs
-
We absolutely have internet. This is Bali, not the moon.
-
Our main dates are Dec 22-Jan 15 but people are arriving at different times and for different durations. Since we have some housing options before and after, we can support longer stays on either side.
Before Dec 22 // A few people arriving early, staying in Bali Hai (5BR) or nearby.Dec 22 - Jan 5 // We’ve reserved all nine bedroom suites in Dwa Chandra.
Jan 5 - 15 // Dwa Chandra is available to book if we receive enough interest. Otherwise its Bali Hai or nearby.
After Jan 15 // Bali Hai (5BR) or nearby.

We’re keeping our Bali costs as low as possible. (See Details page for more.)
A private luxury suite for 14 days, with two meals a day, two massages, and airport transfers is $1500. Down to share a suite? Then two weeks could be as low as $900. Welcome to Bali!
So your main cost will be your airfare.
As of Dec 1, good flights (e.g. 20hrs, 1 transfer) are available from SF to Bali for $2200; DC to Bali for $2400. Once you get over the fact that it’s a long flight (and you remember you’ll have internet the whole time) you pretty much don’t think about it again. Well, until the jet lag hits.
And once you get here, costs are so low that when you compare total cost for a two week trip to most anywhere else in the world, you’ll come out WELL ahead. -
No.
Well, maybe.

Double check your visa status based on your country. For most of us, we can buy a “Visa On Arrival” for $30 as a normal part of getting through the airport. This is valid for 30 days.
Double check your passport expiration date. You must have 6 months validity left when you enter Bali.Phone data is easy. You can buy a SIM with unlimited data at the airport for $20, or get a travel plan with your provider.

You were hand-picked for this, so if you’d like to invite someone, we trust that instinct! Let’s jump on a call to chat about it. :D
